Dear Friends:
I am deeply humbled by all the words of encouragement and appreciation you have directed my way. Things were not turning out the way I had expected and as a result the hiatus turned out to be far longer than I had anticipated. I am still tied down by my responsibilities, but the outrages in Gaza have imposed their own demand. Ann and I agreed that we would be remiss in our responsibilties if we remained AWOL during this crisis. For this reason we have decided to launch a joint blog, Pulse, which you can find at Pulsemedia.org. We are also joined in this effort by Robin Yassin-Kassab, Ludek Stavinoha and Dave Thomson. As the activities on our own respective blogs would be mostly suspended from now on, I would encourage you all to update your bookmarks with the new URL (fanonite.org will soon also point to the new blog).
Thank you once again for your support, and your patience.
Yours,
Muhammad Idrees Ahmad

Hi!
Is there any way to determine who the ‘unnamed contact’ was that informed the ‘British Diplomat in Paris’ or who the British Diplomat was?
I am very interested in this as my father was horribly caught up in Idi Amin’s web of terror. The venomous widow spiders construct a web and hang near the center waiting for pey to blunder in and get stuck. Then, before being able to extricate itself, rushes over to bite it and swathe it in a silken shroud. My father, Bob (Robert) Scanlon went MurderedorMissing in Ugandan 1977.

The last King of Scotland was a novel, and the film was loosley based on the novel, it was never meant to be fact.

Dear Cherie
I was just browsing the internet and saw your blog. My condolences on the loss of your father. In fact I remember meeting Bob Scanlon at the rugby club in the early 1970s (1973/74) when I worked for Grindlays Bank in Kampala. Uganda was a wonderful country, such a pity it had such an unhappy history.
