Evidently Georgian troops were quite put out as just as they were being severely pressed on the battlefield their Israeli trainers rang and tried to reverse the charges!

A Georgian soldier apparently bought it as he frantically tried to get a top-up for his mobile!

Michel Chussodovsky at globalresearch has a sound piece that argues that Israel has firmly insinuated itself into the Anglo-US military axis that serves the Western oil giants in the Middle East and Central Asia. With 20% Israeli oil imported from Azerbaijan largely via the BTC pipeline sponsored by Washington the BBR is part of a new US-created bloc that includes the states through which the flow of oil and gas passes.

It is now envisaged that an Israeli-Turkish pipeline will link Ceyhan with the BBR port at Ashkelon
from whence it will continue via the main Israeli Red Sea pipeline.Caspian oil is not simply to be imported for Israeli consumption but re-exported by the BBR back to Asian markets in India and the Far East from the Red Sea port of Eilat.

Thus the military training and aid Georgia and Azerbaijan receive from Israel is not just to secure their cooperation in the Anglo/US project that would diminish Russian presence and influence in the Caucasus and Central Asia it is also primarily to elicit their engagement in the primary task of pipeline protection.

With the Russian Gazprom giant's near monopoly of oil and gas in the region already in place, with the debacle of NATO plans in Georgia the US/Israeli regional project has been checkmated at least temporarily by more adept players of the Great Game in the Kremlin.
