Following recent posts about ’360 Degree Security’ of Helensburgh, another instance has come to light of Israeli state forces taking advantage of their reputation as the world authority on the war against Islamist terror to offer advice here.

There was an item in the ‘Big Issue’ about a three day security conference entitled ‘Global Jihad Awareness’, due to take place in Glasgow last week. According to the item, ‘The event includes a hostage survival seminar and guest speakers including Tal Hanan, a former commander of Israeli Special Forces’.

The event was organised by a Glasgow firm called Athena Security and Intelligence Consultants (ASIC), whose MD is Simon Atkinson, described as ‘a former covert operator in the armed forces, with experience in Bosnia and the Middle East.’ They have a Web site at www.athenaintelligence.co.uk

Googling ‘Tal Hanan’ produced numerous hits. He’s the founder and CEO of an Israeli firm called ‘Demoman International’, who have two sites: www.demoman.co.il and www.suicide-terrorism.com, where you can find the information that Demoman ‘was established in 1999 by former Special Forces, law enforcement and intelligence officers.’ and ‘is authorized by the Israeli Ministry of Defense to export security and defense know-how and technologies’. Its instructors are described as ‘Israeli experts in the field of explosives and suicide terrorism’, while Hanan ‘served as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officer in an elite Israel Air Force unit. He has led operations involving finding and defusing unexploded ordnance, missiles, and improvised explosive devices.’
