The French were denounced by the neocons as ‘Cheese-eating surrender monkeys’ for opposing the war in 2003. Nikolas Sarkozy is on a mission to erase that legacy. He first flattered Americans, and now in almost identical words he flatters the Brits. Starved for anything other than the revulsion the Iraq war has been plying them with, government’s in both countries are lapping it up.

The message for the French seems quite clear.
Find yourself a leader with a wife who’s at least half good looking,drop your opposition to Anglo/US world domination and all the stuff about London serving as a financial and logistical base for international terrorism as indeed it still does-and you’ll be lionized beyond your wildest dreams.
Incidentally if you noticed the pictures of the Do at the Castle last night you might have noticed how Sarkozy didn’t look in the least bit out of place.
