I'm grateful for Toni Solo's response to Carlin's article.
Problem is, that kind of garbage has already reached a number of readers. How many of them will have the chance to read Solo's response? And this happens EVERY DAY, on thousands of sites on the web, on thousands of newspapers and TV stations under control of the USrael empire (yes, I spelled that correctly: USrael. Have a look around and tell me if I'm wrong).
We at VHeadline.com are now unable to respond to the attacks and lies thrown at our country and our government. Lack of funds closed the main site for news and opinions about Venezuela in english.... so, the vast majority of anglophones are now in the hands of corporate media and their hitmen, guys like John Carlin who don't even blink when spreading herbivore's droppings dressed up as "news".
Franco Munini, from beatiful Venezuela.

Carlin's last Observer editorial was on David Beckham when he was in Spain.Carlin got the scoop in which he revealed David was playing for Real Madrid!

If he's been chosen to ditch the dirt on Chavez he's likely working for the same Israeli network as the Economist's Martin Bright who did the execrable recent hatchet job on Livingstone on C4's Dispatches.

Bright suggested that there was something wrong with Livingstone's cheap oil deal with Chavez that has probably saved numerous London pensioners from dying of hyperthermia this year.

Naturally Bright impugned Livingstone's anti-semitism too.

It's the same Zionist network that's penetrated the corporate media long ago.

The piece in The Observer is absolute BS! It is an excellent example of anti-journalism: no credible sources and dodgy assumptions. In reality, Venezuelan antidrug officials have almost double the number of drug seizures since the DEA left Venezuela (something that has been accepted even by US and European authorities). Not only that, but the production of cocaine in Colombia –the closest US ally in the region, which received in 2007 over 1.8 billion US dollars to fight drug trafficking- has in fact increase. Something that it is not mentioned in this piece. It is true that 70% of the cocaine going to Europe pass trough Venezuela, but 99% gets into the US and European territory. If these countries with all their resources are incapable of stopping traffickers, the fact that Venezuela manages to stop at least 20% of the trafficking is a world achievement. Moreover, 90% of the cocaine is produced in Colombia and Peru; both countries that receive substantial aid from the US and that have active presence of the DEA. In both places, despite increasing US aid and DEA presence, drug production has triple in the past 10 years (US State Department). Venezuela’s authorities have a much better record in confronting trafficking cartels than any of its neighbours, and that is a fact. Even for those of us who are not entirely sympathetic with President Chavez.

P.S. If the US Europe wants to reduce the drug supply, it should reinstall the Taliban in Afghanistan back in power.
