Iranians in Solidarity with Gaza

While Egypt and Jordan help enforce Israel’s blockade of the Palestinians, and while their populations work themselves silly looking for naked pictures of Haifa Wehbe (yes, it still remains the top google search term for the Middle East), the task of showing solidarity is left to the Iranians. Press TV reports:

Hundreds of thousands of Iranians have taken to the streets to protest the perpetual atrocities committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza.

In an effort to convey their message to world politicians, demonstrators rallied in Tehran after the Friday prayers chanting slogans and condemning the siege on the Gaza Strip.

They denounced the silence of international bodies and all those who claim to be defending human rights, urging the international community to take action.

“There should be demonstrations like this all over the world,” a protester told Press TV correspondent Gisoo Misha Ahmadi. “What is the UN doing? Why isn’t anyone doing anything about the dire situation in Gaza?”

The rally follows a demonstration which was held in front of the United Nations building in Tehran on Thursday.
The Zionist regime has toughened embargoes on the Gaza Strip since the takeover of the coastal region by Hamas in June.

Gaza has been sealed by Israel for a week and according to reports US pressure has caused Egypt to block its breached border with Gaza as of 1300 GMT on Friday.

to be fair, there were demonstrations in Kairo as well. They were attacked by police and 2000 people were arrested…

buntnessel: Actually 2,000 was the total number of protesters gathered in Cairo, all of them from the Muslim Brotherhood or small leftist outfits. For a country the size of Egypt, and for a country directly implicated in assisting Zionist genocide, that is rather pathetic.

and to be more fair I heard of another solidarity on street march for Palestinian sufferings by the people from UAE….I do not have more details on it though. nevertheless, iranian effort here is been corageous as usual.

I can say with absolute certainty that those gathered must have been immigrant workers from india, indonesia, pakistan, bangladesh etc. When I was in Dubai, even the Palestinians refused to come out for the march against the Iraq war.

The proof of their fearing truth, is that Pro Palestian blogs always moderate comments.
