Joel Kovel: Overcoming Zionism
October 18, 2007
Joel Kovel is the former Green Party presidential candidate and an acclaimed environmental scientist. Ever since he started writing on Israel and Zionism, he has felt the number of venues able to give him a platform diminishing. First the Israel lobby tried to prevent him from speaking at campuses (we had the pleasure of hosting Kovel’s successful Scottish tour at the time). And more recently it has tried to get the University publishers to stop distributing his book Overcoming Zionism. Here is Kovel in his own words. (Once again, all thanks due to my good friend Ann for first bringing this to my notice. )

Nice defense of the racist Kovel. Your talk about the “Israel lobby” makes me think you are an anti-semitic nut case yourself. You two make a perfect pair.
The World has moved way past this type of slurring, TDS. Haven’t you noticed yet?
TDS is obviously a pathetic creature of very limited intellectual capacity. Sadly, he/she is quite representative of Israel’s campus warriors in the United States who resort to slurs in the absence of argument.
see video: Zionist Pressure Fails to Stop Overcoming Zionism Book The distributor dropped his book after receiving threatening emails from a Zionist pressure group. But the Committee for Open Discussion of Zionism was able to convince them to continue distributing it.
