Intolerance, Hypocrisy and Mass Murder
July 16, 2007
For the past month or so, I have been looking daily at the Guardian’s comment is free section and it is hard not to notice that British intelligentsia is obsessed with Islam and Muslims. But with woefully few exceptions, it is all thinly veiled Islamophobic drivel. Credit to Ed Husain and Hassan Butt, every half wit with the capacity to put together a grammatically correct sentence is now an Islamic scholar who can pontificate to the 1.2 Billion Muslims around the world how they ought to combat their propensity for violence even as they sit in a country whose armies are laying waste whole villages in Afghanistan and Iraq. That would be something like if I were to lecture christians using Monty Python’s Life of Brian as my primary reference.
For those keen to discover just how well placed the British public is to issue such sermons, I recommend Sven Lindquist’s ‘Exterminate all the Brutes’:One Man’s Odyssey into the Heart of Darkness and the Origins of European Genocide.
Haha, that’s a great analogy (and perhaps not such a bad idea).
Ed Hussain is after money, I guess. His book, I heard, carefully blames everybody and everything except politics for terrorism. Of course part of the blame is on Islam. Therefore, he is a lovely puppy of the Islamophobic society now.
The other infamous woman, Hirsi Ali, is surely after money.
Actually the Guardian pages are often populated by Muslim Brotherhood activists (usually hiding the fact) Stalinists (Milne Murray) Hamas mouthpieces (Tamimi) or a corrupt MP (Galloway).Plus the ludicrous Bunglawala.
Jeff has said something I later thought I should have touched upon.
Commentisfree does not only have the likes of Ed Hussain. They also have some mainstream Islamic voices like Tamimi, Enayat and some others. Some of them are even women.
I would rather say that Comment is free is much better than many others.
In fact, in my impression, the whole of UK is better than US. Any mainstream newspaper or site will not allow a Hamas activist to publish their views. (Except when it suits them, of course!)
