I notice that Ayaan Hirsi Ali is making the rounds in the US and Australian media even when her fabricated past has been exposed and thoroughly discredited. I wonder what this savior of Womankind has to say about the following:

Modern day victims of slavery are often young women from eastern Europe, thinking they are coming to England to work as cleaners or au pairs, only to be forced into prostitution.
The Home Office estimated in 2003 that 4,000 women were trafficked into the UK for sexual exploitation. It is thought the figure may have grown since.
Police forces from Cornwall to Northumbria have found themselves having to rescue women and prosecute the traffickers who brought them to England to work as sex slaves.
And as well as foreign citizens coming to the UK, charity workers in Manchester told the BBC they believed British women working in massage parlours had been sold abroad, because they owed the owners money.
Child protection organisations and human rights groups also believe there are thousands of child sex slaves in the UK…
A spokesman told the BBC women were sometimes sold off in auctions in airport coffee shops and restaurants as they arrived in the country.
And he said there were also many cases of English women, from backgrounds of poverty, being sold from town to town to work as prostitutes.
But it is now believed that as many as 85% of women working in brothels in the UK have come from overseas – in the mid-1990s, an estimated 85% were UK citizens.
Operation Pentameter, a Home Office initiative aimed at rescuing sex workers held against their will carried out between January and July 2006, saw 84 trafficked women rescued, including 12 aged 14 to 17…

What’s fabricated? She’s admitted she lied about her age, modified her name, and that she wasn’t a refugee from the Somali civil war.
Are you claiming that she wasn’t genitally mutilated? That her father didn’t force her into an arranged marriage against her will?

P.s. I love it when racist scum try to project their fantasies on to others, embellish cherry-picked ‘facts’ and try to make their bigotry appear rational.
Mr. Idrees: Why don’t you read her book before you dismiss what she says? You base your charges on one slanderous television show, which has been proven to be a biased hit job. Hirsi Ali does not spare herself in her book: she admits that she lied about her age, and the reason she claimed refugee status.
The more important aspects of her story are true. What would satisfy you? Photographs of her mutilated vagina? The description of her mutilation rings absolutely true. She states clearly her father was against the procedure but her grandmother did it — no blaming men there. Her description of the forced marriage is detailed and absolutely convincing.
You call me racist scum. Fine. You are a sad, deluded young dummy who is objectively on the side of brutal misogyny, no matter what your own fantasies of being on the side of liberation consist of.
You have the gall to compare traffic in women, which is outlawed and deplored, with the culturally sanctioned abuse of women in Islam.
You should be deported from Britain, whose culture you pollute with your very presence. You do not deserve to be there. Go back to Northern Pakistan and join your barbarian relatives. At least have the courage of your convictions.
I can see why you might object to being called “racist scum” but if I were going to refute that kind of insult I probably wouldn’t then call people in Pakistan “barbarians”. He might feel like your are proving his case for him.

to react phlegmatically to someone who slanders Ayaan Hirsi Ali in a post whose point is that the West is somehow unique in dishonoring women.
I stand by my invitation to this twerp to have the courage of his convictions and live amongst his co-religionists & relatives. Instead he seethes against and whines about the society that has given him refuge. What an empty fraud.
And, Kate, I urge you to read Hirsi Ali’s book. No woman who reads the part where she describes how her clitoris was snipped off, her genitals scraped away, and the remainder sewn up (and her witnessing of the same being done to her younger sister) could question the veracity of the account.

Ah Melinda, generalizing too much, aren’t we? It is hard to conceal racism, especially when it comes in the predictable garb of concern for them benighted natives. More amusing, however, is the ease with which the veneer of civility always drops. Cheers for proving my point.
I am sorry to hear that your reading list includes fantasies of what Malcolm X used to call a “House Negro”, concocted to seek advancement by stoking the hollow egos of insecure racists like yourself. What better way to infuse some meaning into the sad insignificant life of one with nothing better to do than wallow in the fantasies of her ancestor’s colonial past?
Should you choose to send me pictures of Hirsi Ali’s mutilated vagina, make sure you also put in the envelope the photos of those Weapons of mass destruction that AEI, the far-right neoconservative organization she works for, promised we would find in Iraq. Throw in a unicorn as well, for maximum impact.
P.s. When I see a foreigner in my country, I don’t automatically assume that they are seeking “refuge”, even though my country is host to 1/4th of all the world’s refugees. The fact that you should assume I would be seeking “refuge” in yours is further proof of your ugly, deep seated racism.
