Outside of the neocon dominated VP’s office, and the NSA’s office (Elliot Abrams) there is no support for the war — except, if you exclude the Democratic Party. The Dems do not support a war and are going to oppose Bush, but if Israel initiates hostilities, they will all line up. John Edwards had earlier attended the Herliya conference, but in recent days, he seems to have been making some very sensible statements.

Short of the Gulf-of-Tonkin type provocation that Brzezinski has warned against, I don’t see the Americans going to war. There is strong resistance in the ranks of the army, state and diplomatic elites. The people to watch out for will be the VP’s neocon gang, CIA and the Bandar faction in Saudi Arabia (Abdullah himself, and Turki are less sanguine about military solutions).

But feb 21 is come and gone. Rice apears “appeasing”, Iranians very vocal in wanting “negotiations” and yet Dick Cheney rattles his nuclear saber!

This man is DANGEROUS!

And the Saudis will be the ones to benefit from both Iran and Israel engaged in a conflict! Saudi Arabia is no friend to either!

What do you think can SAVE us all from this mania?! You raise a good question about the absense of a public antiwar outcry!
